MIVAL ISLAND VISUAL ARTS LEAGUE (MIVAL) OPENING AN ART GALLERY IN THE TOWN CENTER
Mercer Island, WA November 19, 2009- Mercer Island Visual Arts League (MIVAL) is opening an Arts Gallery in the Town Center.It will be located in the Avellino Building at 2836 78th AVE SE.The cooperative style gallery will be managed and staffed by MIVAL artists.
This is the first art gallery of its kind showcasing Mercer Islander artists.The gallery provides another way to appreciate and purchase a variety of fine artwork.MIVAL President, Seiko Konya, stated, “This is an exciting opportunity for MIVAL artists to exhibit and sell their artwork on Mercer Island.We are grateful for the Avellino Development Company LLC’s support that makes this collaboration possible.”
MIVAL and its artists manage the Junior Fine Arts Show during Summer Celebration and the Holiday Show now in progress at the Mercer Island Community Center. Many Mercer Island business partners also display artwork by MIVAL artists and MIVAL works closely with the Mercer Island Arts Council providing art for the participants of the annual 3rd Thursday Community Art Walk (May – October).
MIVAL is a Mercer Island community group which promotes and encourages artistic endeavors on Mercer Island to stimulate awareness and appreciation of the visual arts and to sponsor art exhibits and workshops.
