MIVAL welcomes all people who are interested in the visual arts. Some of our members are actively pursuing their artistic goals, while others enjoy our fun and informative monthly meetings. Membership is open to all.
In 1961, MIVAL was formed by a group of Mercer Island Artists and was incorporated in 1969 as a private non-profit corporation. The purpose of the organization was to promote and encourage artistic endeavors on Mercer Island, to stimulate awareness and appreciation of the visual arts and to sponsor art exhibits and workshops.
Through the years, MIVAL has sponsored scholarships to High School students, given grants to various organizations and donated many pieces of art to the community of Mercer Island. One of the most exciting activities sponsored by MIVAL is the rewarding Junior Art Show held during the Summer Celebration on Mercer Island.
